What is the Cyprus Registrar of Companies?
The Department of Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver (commonly called the Registrar of Companies or Ephoros Etaireion in Greek) is the government body responsible for registering and maintaining records on all companies incorporated in Cyprus. It operates under the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry.
What You Can Find in the Registry
- Company name, registration number (HE number) and registration date
- Current registered office address
- Names of directors and company secretary
- Details of shareholders and share capital
- Current status (active, dissolved, struck off)
- Annual returns filed
- Charges and encumbrances registered against the company
How to Search the Registry
The Registrar of Companies provides an online search facility at efiling.drcor.mcit.gov.cy. You can search by:
- Company name — partial name search is supported
- Registration number (HE number) — the fastest and most precise method
Basic company information (name, number, status, registered office) is free. Full document retrieval (certificates, filed accounts) requires payment of a small fee (typically €2–€5 per document).
Checking a Company's Good Standing
A Certificate of Good Standing confirms that a company is currently registered, up to date with annual returns and has not been struck off or dissolved. This document is commonly requested by banks, counterparties and regulatory bodies. It must be officially obtained from the Registrar — your company's lawyer or formation agent can obtain it on your behalf.
Registering a New Company
Company registration is also handled through the Registrar of Companies. See our complete guide on registering a Cyprus company. You can also check name availability through the same portal before submitting a registration application.
